Teaching Kids How to Ride a Bike

02 June 2012

My son can now ride a bike and he learned on his own. I found this Youtube video on how parents should teach kids how to ride a bike in a fun, stress-free and untiring-for-the-parents way. Of course the parents or an adult still needs to explain how the kids should do it.

My son learned how to balance in an hour, how to do a U-turn in an hour. I am not kidding!

Here's the video:

step-by-step guide to shaving

How can one avoid nicks when shaving?

Try searching it online and you'll surely find page after page of shaving tips written by so-called shaving experts. But here’s the only guide that you need, a step-by-step guide on how to have an ouchless shaving experience.

Prepare the following:
An exfoliating face wash
Shaving gel or cream
A sharp twin-blade razor
Face moisturizer with SPF 15 or higher

The first step is to take a hot shower. Use a gentle exfoliating face wash while taking a hot shower to help open the pores. The warm moisture of the shower also soften the stubs. Hot steam towels are used in barber shops for the same purpose.

While the hair is still soft after a hot shower, or you can also do this while you’re still in the shower, lather your face with a shaving gel or cream. Leave it on for a few minutes before shaving, to soften the hair more for a closer shave.

step-by-step guide to a good shaving experience

Now get a clean, sharp twin-blade razor and dip it in hot water. Making sure to not put too much pressure, start shaving with the grain of your beard. Do not shave too close to the roots since that can lead to shaving some skin off your face, ouch! An electric shaver can do the job in a few minutes. A very good investment especially if you're in a hurry for a date or a meeting.

After shaving, rinse with cold water and pat dry. Apply moisturizer to soften the facial skin with enough SPF to protect the face from the harsh rays of the sun.

I am participating in a blogger campaign by Bucks2Blog about shaving tips and was compensated. All views and opinions are my own.

How to make a perfect dive

I saw this picture while browsing for something to write about. RJ, with his yellow school swim team cap, all ready and waiting for the signal to dive and swim during a competition. A clean, perfect dive is really important for a swimmer to get a good swim result. Because even if one can swim fast, if his dive is not clean, then his result standing will suffer. That can also mess up the team's standing in the overall ranking.

ready to dive

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to make a perfect dive in competitive swimming (livestrong.com)

Step 1
Curl your toes over the edge of the starting block. Bring your hands down and take hold of the block.

Step 2
Shift your weight to the rear. You need to propel all your body weight forward as soon as you hear the starter's pistol. To get the greatest depth on your dive, have all your weight and momentum to the rear so you can bring it forward when the starter shoots the pistol.

Step 3
Listen for the starter's pistol and then propel your body as low, far and as flat as you can. Drive your hands into the water, joining them to help you cut through the water.

Step 4
Hold on to your glide as long as possible. Keep your hands and head in the water as long as you can. In order to get the full value of your start, continue to glide and then begin to stroke and kick.

RJ still needs practice to do a perfect dive. Practice makes perfect so I know he'll be ready the next time he joins a swimming competition.

how to draw a flower

My son really loves to draw. He likes drawing cars, dinosaurs, pirates, aliens and wrestlers. "It's my specialty Mama." Who am I to argue, I'm not the "artist". There are days when he does draw something that doesn't have bulky muscles. But that happens only once in a blue moon.

I found an image that shows how to draw a simple flower while I was doing my usual blog hopping this morning.

I'm very thankful because he followed the guide and drew this nice flower for me. Something colorful for once -he likes using black pencil most of the time. He doesn't like to color his drawings so I am really happy whenever I see him color his drawings.

Afterwards, he asked if he can use my mobile phone to search for how to draw videos on youtube. He was drawing the whole morning. He found some really amazing videos that has a step to step guide on how to draw cars, trees, animals, flowers and his favorite cartoon characters.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for another fruitful day tomorrow. Hopefully, he'll find more videos that'll help him improve his God-given talent.

thankful thursday
