How to make your child love sports

My son was able to finish a 5K run last Sunday. I'm one proud Mama. We woke up at around 430AM and was at the race ground before 530AM. I know, too early for me but I can sacrifice my sleep anytime for my son.

RJ doesn't swim in school anymore, sometimes he swims with his dad but that happens once in a blue moon, so he needs to find another sports that he can do at least 3 times a week. Especially since my son is asthmatic, he needs to be fit and strong. Although he's into soccer and basketball already, his dad is encouraging him to try out running.

His dad joins running events every weekend so he's in a mission to make RJ love the sport also. He's already "doing what he's preaching" so hopefully he'll be successful in coaxing RJ to also love the sport that he loves.

A Day At The Beach

We went to a beach resort, 45-minute drive from our house, last Saturday. May is a rainy month on this island already but it was surprisingly very sunny that day. Swimming on the beach and building a sand castle are included on RJ’s to-do list this summer break so he was very happy that day. The water was so clear and there were small fishes swimming near the shoreline.

I was the official photographer slash videographer of the group. I was planning to upload everything that I took while we were still in the resort so everyone who wasn’t able to come can see how the kids had a great time at the beach. But aside from the fact that I forgot to bring the laptop, the resort does not have an internet connection also.

RJ wants to spend another day at the beach, a different beach. But he’s the only one in the family who’s still on vacation. The school year, in most school’s in the country, has officially opened yesterday. RJ’s school opening is on June 15. He has to wait for a school break, and for the rainy season to end -maybe in November, he can have another fun day at the beach.

I usually buy stickers, with RJ's name and school information, for easy labeling of his books and notebooks. He wants a Ben10 themed sticker this year.

Speaking of Ben 10, my son received toys above for Christmas. He already has a list, an assignment of gifts, even before Halloween 2010. It was so funny that he wants to make sure he doesn’t get disappointed on Christmas eve. But I had to tell him that it’s not right to dictate, what’s important is that the person who gave the gift remembered him. And to have a smile and be thankful for each and every gift that he receive.

Back to the stickers. I'll just order from the printing store where I bought last year's Transformer stickers. I hope their pre-designed templates include different Ben 10 designs. If they don’t, I’ll just have to look online. Can anyone please point me to a reliable online sticker store?

trick art, mirror maze and 3D movie date

This is our fun weekend pictures when we visited Seriland. 

Seriland, the land of happy thoughts, is a Korean theme park attraction located at the second floor of Manila Ocean Park. RJ had so much fun in the Trick Art Musem. You can see me in the picture collage pointing at a treasure map. The treasure map is actually a 3D painting on the wall that gives an illusion of the object being real. The trick art museum is a room full of 3D art that kids and kids at heart will enjoy. Other fun-filled facilities are the Mirror Maze, the 3D Cinema Plus and the Kid’s Paradise with multi-colored toys and other playthings (which we didn't include in our package because my son said it's a place for babies).

Last saturday we watched the PyroMusical Competition...

We also attended the Travel and Tour Expo. We bought tickets for the Kaos show in March.

It was a FUN-tastic day for RJ!
