The Right Time to Tell Your Child About Santa

09 December 2012

When is the right time to tell a child the truth about Santa Claus? Santa, the most favorite person of any child I know, especially during Christmas. Santa, who makes kids excited to wake up early once a year, during Christmas day.

My son is 11 years old and I think this year is the right time to have that "Santa talk". I'm pretty sure he knows the "truth" already. But he's trying to act like he doesn't know because he still wants a separate gift from "Santa" and from mom and dad.

Whatever gift he likes, whether new lego blocks, it won't change the fact that I'll give him some "hints" about the truth about Santa this year. He has to know this year because everyone else in his class probably know already.

Because RJ loves to read all kinds of books, he got lots of it for Christmas. From comic books to almanacs and how-to books, you name it, he has it. But before he can show it to his friends, I made sure I wrap it with plastic first. I am a book-collector, another term for bookworm?, myself. I don't want his I-don't-care-if-I handle-this-book-without-care friends to destroy his new books. I care so much about books, I wrap every single book that enter my house. Yes, even the tiniest books!

more books

And because he's a Ben 10 fan, more Ben 10 toys as well.

Ben 10

But not without this reminder from Santa.

lovenote from Santa

"Santa" left the note 4 days before Christmas. I saw my niece's crayons on her study desk so I used it to make the note. When they saw the note on the christmas tree, my niece asked me, "Did Santa use my crayons and paper?".

Santa, a laptop will do

RJ was holding a brochure of customized laptops and asked me if he can have one. That was a few months back when we were shopping for early Christmas gifts in a nearby mall. Of course I won't buy him one, he does not need one for himself...yet.

"I'll buy you a laptop once you need it for school work. You can always borrow mine."

I just hope he doesn't include it on his Christmas list. Because I already include it on my wish list this Christmas! Santa, I need a new laptop. Thanks in advance!

"Here's my wish list Mama, I want to make it simple. I just want a bear."

Before going to sleep, night of 24th, "Mama, I don't think I'm going to get a gift from Santa."

He got the bear. But not without a letter from Santa.

Very happy, he promised to be a very good boy next year.
